Status Scout · how to use
From install to your first report
Status Scout is an AI project status analyst for monday.com. It scans the boards you choose, computes real risk signals — overdue, stale, blocked, unowned, drifting — and writes an executive-ready weekly status report. Setup takes about two minutes.
Prerequisites
- A monday.com account where you are a member or admin (installing apps may require admin approval on your account).
- At least one project board with a status column. Due-date, timeline, people and dependency columns make the reports richer — Scout uses whatever is there.
- A regular (not view-only, not guest) seat to configure and run reports. Viewers can read finished reports; guests can't access the app.
1 · Install from the marketplace
- Open the monday.com marketplace (grid icon in the top-right of monday) and search for “Status Scout”.
- Select Install and choose the workspace to add it to.
- Review the permissions — Status Scout asks for read-only access to boards, plus permission to create the weekly-report doc. It never changes your board items.
2 · Add the Status Scout view to a board
- Open any board you manage and click + in the view tabs row (next to “Main table”).
- Choose Apps, find Status Scout, and add it.
- The first time it opens you'll see a short welcome tour — it walks through the same three steps below.
3 · Pick the boards to watch
Open Settings (gear icon, top-right of the view) and choose which boards Scout should scan. This is also where you tune what counts as a risk for your team — how many quiet days make an item stale, and how much date drift matters.
4 · Run your first scan
Press Run now. Scout reads the watched boards, computes the five risk signals, and writes the report — usually in under a minute. Every number, date and name in the report is computed from your board data; the AI writes the words, never the facts.
5 · Read it weekly — or have it delivered
Reports stay in the board view with full history. From the second report on, a Since last week section tracks new risks, resolved risks, and aging blockers (“stuck 3rd consecutive week”). On the Pro plan, the weekly schedule runs every Monday morning and can deliver the report as an accumulating monday doc and by email.
Troubleshooting
- “No boards configured” — open Settings and add at least one board to watch.
- The Run button is disabled — your seat may be view-only; ask a board member to configure and run Scout.
- A watched board stopped appearing in reports — check it wasn't deleted or moved to a private space the installer can't access.
- Anything else — email [email protected]. We answer within one business day.
